What is SiteGround?

Siteground is a shared web hosting solution for all WordPress projects whether they are new or already established.

Google Drops Sites Hosted on SiteGround

SiteGround has confirmed a serious issue that caused Google to stop crawling many sites hosted there since Monday. Publishers are panicking as web pages and eCommerce store products dropped out of Google. SiteGround has posted multiple updates to the problem on their blog, but it is unclear what exactly is causing the issue. This has caused more concern for some publishers who have tweeted that they are done and moving away from SiteGround

Problem Apparently Started on Monday

SiteGround, a popular web hosting company, had a problem on Monday when their customers started to notice that Google was no longer crawling their sites.

SiteGround “Escalates” Issue to Google

SiteGround next passed the buck to Google, whom they apparently blamed for the problem.

SiteGround posted:

“We have escalated the issue to Google and we are working to troubleshoot and identify the cause of the problem. We will keep you updated once there’s more information or the problem is fixed.”

Solution to Problem?

A SiteGround customer seemed to confirm that the issue is related to the SiteGround DNS and that moving their website DNS to an external DNS fixed their problem.

At the time of this writing the problem is still ongoing.
